What stays on your iPad
Your home, accessories, cameras, calendars, reminders and photos are read on your iPad through Apple’s frameworks so the app can show them. They are never sent anywhere by the app.
Weather
To show your local weather, the app sends the rounded coordinates (about 1 km) of the place you choose to Apple Weather. What you type is sent to Apple Maps search to suggest places. If you tap Use my location, the app asks for permission and reads your iPad’s location once to find your area. It never tracks your location or uses it in the background, and only the rounded place is kept.
Space and Earth, and Paintings
If you choose one of these in Settings > Photos, the app downloads pictures and their credits from NASA (nasa.gov) or the Art Institute of Chicago (artic.edu). Like any web request this reveals your iPad’s network address to them, but nothing about you, your home or your own photos is sent. Downloaded pictures are cached on your iPad.
Purchases
Hallpane is free and has no in-app purchases.
Storage
Settings, cached weather and cached pictures stay on your iPad. Locking Settings uses the iPad’s own Face ID, Touch ID or passcode; the app never sees or stores them. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone.
This website
Everything above is about the app. This website, hallpane.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records things like the pages you view, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and your approximate region, using a cookie. IP addresses are not stored, and Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are not given an analytics cookie. Google’s use of this data is covered by Google’s privacy policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing from the website is linked to the app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with its date.
